PROJECT ENGINEER

£50,000 – £70,000

Contract:

Role Summary:

To support the delivery of mechanical and/or electrical water industry projects from design through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the delivery of water and wastewater projects from conception to handover

  • Assisting with project planning, programming, and coordination of site activities

  • Acting as a technical point of contact between site teams, subcontractors, and clients

  • Reviewing and interpreting drawings, specifications, and technical documentation

  • Supporting procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract services

  • Assisting with commissioning, testing, and handover documentation

  • Monitoring site progress, quality, and health & safety compliance

  • Supporting cost control, variations, and change management

  • Attending site meetings and progress reviews

  • Ensuring all works comply with water industry standards and regulations

The Candidate:

Essential:

  • Experience in a Project Engineer role within the water or utilities industry

  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems

  • Experience working on water or wastewater treatment works or pumping stations

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications

  • Good organisational and communication skills

  • Strong health & safety awareness

  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Background in mechanical or electrical engineering

  • Experience working on AMP or framework projects

  • Knowledge of CDM regulations

  • Experience with commissioning and handover processes

  • Familiarity with NEC contracts

Qualifications

  • HNC / HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering

  • SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable)

  • CSCS or ECS card (desirable)

  • EUSR Water Hygiene (desirable)
