MECHANICAL FITTER

Role Summary:
To carry out mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair works on water and wastewater treatment assets, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery across multiple sites.
Responsibilities:
Mechanical installation, maintenance, and refurbishment of water industry assets including pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes, pipework, and associated equipment
Fault finding and repair of mechanical systems
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and method statements
Installation and replacement of pipework (flanged, screwed, and welded where applicable)
Supporting commissioning and testing of mechanical installations
Working on water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, and related infrastructure
Completing job sheets, permits, and site documentation accurately
Ensuring strict compliance with health & safety legislation and site procedures
Working collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and other trades
The Candidate:
Essential:
Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter
Previous experience within the water or utilities industry
Strong mechanical knowledge of pumps, rotating equipment, and pipework systems
Ability to work from technical drawings and specifications
Strong commitment to health & safety
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Experience on water or wastewater treatment sites
Confined Space certification
EUSR Water Hygiene card
Lifting & Slinging certification
CSCS card or equivalent
Experience supporting commissioning activities
Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering / Maintenance
Time-served or apprenticeship trained preferred
