Role Summary:

An established engineering and infrastructure consultancy working extensively within the UK water and wastewater sector is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join its growing multi-disciplinary design team.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of clean and wastewater infrastructure projects, supporting delivery from feasibility and outline design through to detailed design and construction support.

Responsibilities:

Civil Design & Engineering

  • Produce civil designs for UK water and wastewater infrastructure including:

  • Treatment works and pumping stations

  • Tanks, chambers, and foundations

  • Pipework, drainage, and access roads

  • Concrete and steel structures

  • Prepare and review design deliverables such as:

  • General arrangement drawings

  • Levels, sections, and details

  • Design calculations and reports

  • Support feasibility studies, optioneering, and value engineering exercises.

Project Delivery

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary design team on water industry projects.

  • Coordinate designs with mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines.

  • Support procurement through preparation of technical information.

  • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning as required.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure designs comply with:

  • UK water industry standards and water company asset specifications

  • CDM Regulations and health & safety requirements

  • Relevant British Standards and Eurocodes

  • Contribute to design risk assessments and HAZOP / design reviews.

  • Ensure design outputs meet ISO 9001 quality standards.

The Candidate:

Essential

  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).

  • Experience in civil design within the UK water or wastewater sector.

  • Good understanding of water industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience producing civil design drawings and calculations.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (or similar civil CAD software).

  • Strong communication and technical reporting skills.

Desirable

  • Working toward Chartered status (ICE or equivalent).

  • Experience on AMP capital delivery frameworks.

  • Knowledge of BIM / digital engineering tools.

  • Site experience supporting construction and commissioning activities.
