Role Summary:

An established engineering organisation delivering projects across the UK water and wastewater sector is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join its multi-disciplinary MEICA design team.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of clean and wastewater infrastructure projects, supporting electrical design from feasibility and outline design through to detailed design and commissioning support.

Responsibilities:

Electrical Design & Engineering

  • Produce electrical designs for UK water and wastewater assets including:

  • LV power distribution systems

  • MCCs, motors, and VSDs

  • Pumping stations and treatment works electrical systems

  • Prepare and review design deliverables such as:

  • Single-line diagrams

  • Load calculations and cable sizing

  • Electrical schedules and specifications

Project Delivery

  • Support feasibility studies, optioneering, and value engineering.

  • Assist with procurement through technical documentation and supplier queries.

  • Review vendor electrical documentation.

  • Provide site-based technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure designs comply with:

  • BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)

  • Relevant British and IEC standards

  • UK water industry standards (WIMES, water company specifications)

  • CDM Regulations and health & safety requirements

  • Contribute to design risk assessments, HAZOPs, and design reviews.

  • Support ISO 9001 quality processes.

The Candidate:

Essential

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).

  • Experience delivering electrical design within the UK water or wastewater sector.

  • Knowledge of LV distribution, motors, MCCs, and pumping station electrical systems.

  • Experience producing electrical drawings, calculations, and specifications.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar electrical CAD tools.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable

  • Working toward Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

  • Experience on AMP capital delivery frameworks.

  • Understanding of ICA/SCADA interfaces.

  • Site experience supporting commissioning activities.
